Cagayan State University

The Cagayan State University is the largest university in the region considering the number of students who enrol every year and the number of programs on offer. It is also the only and also the first state run institution for higher learning in the Cagayan Valley. The Cagayan Valley College of Arts & Trades and the Northern Luzon State College of Agriculture were merged in 1976 to form the Cagayan State University. Courses which were under the direction of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports were brought under the system of the university. A lot of important steps were taken towards betterment of the system of learning at the university.

There are a number of graduate, post graduate, vocational and health programs at the university. The College of Medicine and Surgery is located in Tuguegarao, Northern Philippines. The two main courses at the university are – a Doctor of Medicine with a traditional curriculum and a graduate degree as Masters in Public Health. A licensed training and teaching agency of the government’s Department of Health has been started by the CSU College of Medicine in association with the Cagayan Valley Medical Center.

The public hospital tied up with the university has high quality facilities of healthcare as well as training and teaching faculty. This results in an excellent and varied health and medical services, giving students an experience of a wide nature and in-depth knowledge.

Those applying for a doctor of medicine’s degree must furnish proofs of having finished a degree in AB and BS. They must also have appeared for the NMAT and will be screened through a round of personal interview. Local applicants will need to furnish these documents for application:

  • Certified true copy of diploma or that for the candidacy of graduation
  • Original transcript of records or a certified true copy of the last 3 and a half years of the BS or AB degree
  • Positive moral character certificate
  • Certificate of class ranking
  • Results of NMAT
  • 4 copies of 2X2 passport size photographs
  • NBI Clearance
  • Application and processing fee receipt

International students must keep the following ready for application:

  • Certified true copy of Certificate of Registration and Certificate of Residence for residential foreigners
  • 3 letters of recommendation from former employers or professors
  • CHED issued updated study permit
  • Notarized Affidavit of Support
  • TOEFL results for non-native English speaking students
  • Personal history for non-residential students
